Adolf Martignoni

Martignoni-Burger, Adolf

Position : D

28-07-1909 St.Moritz, SUI
07-02-1989 St.Moritz, SUI

Youth team / club formateur : EHC St.Moritz

Was the younger brother of Arnold Martignoni. Was of Italian heritage.
His name was sometimes spelled as Adolpho, Adolphe or Adolf. His younger brother Reto also played for St.Moritz.
He was educated in St.Moritz and in Karlsruhe, Germany. He married in 1939 and had two daughters. He worked in the parental and hotel business (Hotel Languard).
Reserve player at the 1936 Olympics. Got to play vs Italy when regular defenseman Oscar Schmidt had to rest due to an injury. It was a bit ironic as Oscar Schmidt and Martignoni normally were blueline partners on the St.Moritz club. Martignoni played tight defensively in the game against Italy together with defensive partner Ernst Hug, as they were able to shut down the Italians.

Frère cadet d'Arnold Martignoni. D'origine italienne.
