Born in Lockton, but grew up in Chesley, also in Ontario, where he also started his playing career before joining various Toronto teams in the OHA Sr. league.
Versatile player who could play both as a right winger and defenseman. A great pinch-hitter.
He was known as a hard worker on the ice and for a his bulldog-like courage and grit.
Played seven NHL seasons during the 1920s and 1930s for the Toronto St. Pats, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Montreal Canadiens.
The greatest highlight of his playing career was when he represented Canada at the 1924 Winter Olympic Games in Chamonix, France.
He formed a devastating and dominating line together with Harry Watson and Hooley Smith. The trio scored 74 goals in only five games.
Worked as a butcher, barber and clerk during off-seasons.
Passed away at Toronto General Hospital.
