Started his playing career as a forward but was switched to defense thanks to his great mobility and size.
In 19 seasons and 417 league games for TPS and Ässät [1967-1970] he managed to score 122 points (62+60). Finnish champion 1976 with TPS. Played at lower levels with Kiekko-67 Turku (division 1) and VG-62 Naantali (division 1) in the end of his career.
Responsible and smart player who represented Finland 74 times (7+3).
Also played three Finnish soccer league games with TPS in 1963.
His son Roni and grandson Konsta also played in the SM-liiga.
Inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.

Il a commencé sa carrière en attaque puis est passé en défense grâce à sa taille alliée à une excellente mobilité.
En 19 ans et 417 matchs de championnat élite finlandais, il a inscrit 122 points (62+60) pour TPS, ainsi que pour les Ässät de Pori entre 1967 et 1970. Champion 1976 avec le TPS Turku. À la fin de sa carrière il a joué dans les divisions inférieures au Kiekko-67 de Turku (I-divisioona) et au VG-62 de Naantali (II-divisioona).
Joueur responsable et intelligent qui compte 74 sélections avec la Finlande et a inscrit 10 points (7+3).
Il a aussi participé à trois rencontres du championnat finlandais de football en 1963 avec TPS.
Son fils Roni et petit-fils Konsta ont également joué en SM-liiga.
Intronisé parmi les Lions du hockey finlandais (Jääkiekkoleijona, numéro 62).
