Came from a sports oriented family with great athletic pedigree.
His paternal great-grandfather Kalle Mikkolainen won an Olympic bronze in 1908 (Gymnastics).
Reijo Mikkolainen won seven league titles.
Scored more than 300 points in over 500 career games.
Represented Finland 80 times (15+11). Retired in 1998.
Inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.
