Joined the Djurgårdens IF organization already as a little kid, and stayed loyal to the club for the majority of his playing career.
He was a small kid, and most of his teammates in the same age group were bigger than him, that is one of the reasons why he was never selected for TV-pucken, which is the most prestigious Swedish national ice hockey tournament for district teams of boys under 15 years of age.
He gained both height and weight, which helped boost his self confidence.
Solid and smart two-way forward with fine skating and stickhandling. Creative with the puck.
Drafted by New York Islanders in 2000. Ottosson was never really interested in playing in the NHL, he preferred his rather comfortable position back home in Sweden, plus that he had a little child and didn’t want to uproot everything by moving.
Represented Sweden 50 times. In his national team debut he played on a line with Nichlas Falk and Anders Burström.
Announced his retirement on March 30, 2013. For a while he helped commentating hockey games in radio. Also coached some junior teams.

Chétif et moins costaud que la plupart de ses coéquipiers, il n'a jamais été sélectionné aux TV-pucken, le prestigieux tournoi national suédois de hockey pour les moins de 15 ans.

Attaquant fiable et intelligent défensivement et offensivement. Bonne tecnique de patinage et de crosse. Créatif avec le palet.
Drafté par les Islanders de New York en 2000, Ottosson n'était pas très motivé à jouer en NHL. Il préférait le confort de rester en Suède, d'autant qu'il avait un jeune enfant et qu'il ne voulait pas créer de déracinement en déménageant.
50 sélections en équipe de Suède. Lors de sa première, il fut aligné avec Nichlas Falk et Anders Burström.
Retraité en 2013, il a commenté des matchs de hockey à la radio a entraîné des équipes juniors.
