Older brother of Dave Brooks. Learned to play at the outdoor rinks of St.Paul, MN.
Was a psychology major at University of Minnesota. Excellent, smooth skater with a long stride.
Also a smart winger who was the last US player cut before the 1960 Olympics.
He was a hard working guy, but wasn’t a prolific goal scorer. Great team man.
Although he was a very good player, it was his coaching that earned him his fame.
Known as an innovative and motivational coach who helped USA win Olympic gold in 1980.
Later had a successful business career, which included motivational speaking.
Died in a car accident. Inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame.

Frère aîné de Dave Brooks. Il a appris à jouer sur les patinoires naturelles de St.Paul, MN.
Diplômé de psychologie à l'Université de Minnesota. Excellent patineur, fluide avec une longue foulée.
Il fut également un ailier intelligent qui fut le dernier coupé de la sélection américaine avant les JO de 1960.
Un grand travailleur, mais pas un buteur prolifique. Excellent joueur d'équipe.
Bien qu'il fut un très bon joueur, c'est sa carrière d'entraîneur qui fut la plus légendaire.
Connu pour avoir été un coach innovant et motivant, il aida les États-Unis à remporter l'or olympique en 1980.
Plus tard il connut une riche carrière dans les affaires, notamment grâce à ses allocutions motivantes et inspirantes.
Décédé dans un accident de voiture. Intronisé au US Hockey Hall of Fame.
