Impulsive and unpredictable player who liked to do the unexpected on the ice.
Very good when in the mood, but a bit inconsistent.
Was discovered by Anatoli Tarasov who invited him to try out for CSKA Moscow.
He started out as a defenseman but shifted to a forward position later on.
Had a good shot from the point. He was supposed to play in the 1963 World Championships, but sustained a spinal injury that kept him in hospital for some time. Known as a chain smoker.
Played 378 league games, scoring 291 points (206+91).
Represented Soviet Union 57 times (23 goals). Finished his playing career before the age of 27.
Later worked as a hockey coach for SKA Kuibyshev, SKA MBO and SKA Khabarovsk.
Also coached CSKA Moscow juniors.

Très bon quand il était dans les meilleures dispositions, mais un peu inconstant.
Découvert par Anatoli Tarasov qui l'invita à faire un essai au CSKA Moscou.
Il démarra en défense mais passa plus tard attaquant. Fort et bon patineur.
Très bon lancer. Il devait jouer les Mondiaux de 1963, mais contracta une blessure du nerf spinal qui l'a laissé à l'hôpital un moment. Connu pour avoir été un fumeur invétéré.
Il joua 378 matchs de championnat, inscrivant 291 points (206+91).
International soviétique 57 fois (23 buts). Il acheva sa carrière de joueur à 27 ans.
Il fut ensuite entraîneur du SKA Kuibyshev, du SKA MBO et du SKA Khabarovsk.
Il entraîna également les juniors du CSKA Moscou.
