Born in Cervená Voda, Czechoslovakia (Rothwasser in German) where a German-speaking population lived, including the Buder family.
Two years after he was born, Cervená Voda was incorporated by the Germans into the newly formed province of Sudetenland as part of the Landkreis Hohenstadt.
Hard working player with a brilliant stick technique. Perhaps the most skilled player in Weißwasser hockey history.
A high risk/high reward type of player. Represented East Germany 202 times.
Captained Dynamo Weißwasser for several years and won an incredible 15 league titles. Played mainly on a line with Wolfgang Blümel and Kurt Stürmer.
Played senior hockey between 1952 and 1970. Switched to defence late in his career.
Became a youth hockey coach afterwards. Inducted into the German Hockey Hall of Fame.

Né à Cervená Voda en Tchécoslovaquie ("eau rouge", ou Rothwasser en allemand), où vivait une population germanophone, dont la famille Buder.
Deux ans après la naissance de Manfred, Cervená Voda fut incorporé par les Allemands à la nouvelle province des Sudètes, dans le Landkreis Hohenstadt. Après la guerre, la famille Buder s'installa à Weißwasser ("eau blanche") en Lusace.
Grand travailleur avec une technique brillante crosse en main. Peut-être le joueur le plus talentueux de la riche histoire du hockey à Weißwasser.
Un joueur du genre à tout donner sur la glace. International avec la RDA 202 fois.
Capitaine du Dynamo Weißwasser durant plusieurs années, il récolta un incroyable total de 15 titres de champion. Il jouait surtout sur la ligne de Wolfgang Blümel et Kurt Stürmer.
Il joua en hockey sénior de 1952 à 1970, passant en défense en fin de carrière.
Devenu ensuite entraîneur de jeunes à Weißwasser. Intronisé au Hall of Fame du hockey allemand.
