Uncle of NHL’er Matt Hackett. Grew up idolizing Tony Esposito and tried to pattern his game after him.
Good size. Used the butterfly style effectively.
Blocked shots excellently with body and leg pads, controling the situations quickly.
Positioned himself well for the second shot. Above average agility and recovery.
Outstanding concentration and work ethic. Followed the puck well through traffic.
Liked to challenge the shooters. Stood his ground in close shooting situations.
Decent puckhandler as a junior but not particularly good stickhandler in the NHL.
Diagnosed with vertigo on January 22, 2004 and retired on February 9, 2004.
Was the goaltending coach for Colorado Avalanche in the NHL between 2006 and 2009.
Also involved in Ontario minor league hockey.

Excellent pour bloquer les tirs avec son corps et ses jambières, il contrôlait rapidement les situations.
Il se positionnait bien pour les deuxièmes lancers. Son agilité et sa reprise d'équilibre étaient au-dessus de la moyenne.
Sa concentration et son éthique de travail étaient exceptionnelles. Il suivait bien le palet dans le trafic.
Il aimait défier les tireurs. Il restait bien campé sur les tirs à bout portant.
Son jeu à la crosse était correct pour le hockey junior mais pas particulièrement bon pour la NHL.
Diagnostiqué comme souffrant de vertiges le 22 janvier 2004, il a pris sa retraite le 9 février 2004.
Entraîneur des gardiens de l'Avalanche du Colorado en NHL entre 2006 et 2009, il s'est ensuite occupé de hockey mineur chez lui dans l'Ontario.
500 parties de saison régulière de NHL avec 2,90 buts encaissés par match et 90,2% d'arrêts.
