Began playing ice hockey as a child in Canada. His first team was the Fort Frances Times Tigers at age eight. Allround defenseman and a smooth skater. Workhorse with the ability to log a lot of minutes. Excellent mobility and two-way instincts for the blueline position. Excellent lateral skater, calm and smart. Hard guy to get off his game. Excellent poke-checker.
Average size and shot from the point. Not a natural power-play quarterback, but still effective.

Commence le hockey sur glace en même temps qu'il apprend à marcher, ou quasiment, comme de nombreux Canadiens. Entre chez les Fort Frances Times Tigers à huit ans.
Défenseur polyvalent et excellent patineur. Endurant, il peut prendre beaucoup de présences d'autant qu'il rend service aux deux lignes bleues. Ses mouvements latéraux rapides, son calme et sa perspicacité le rendent presque impossible à mettre hors de position.
De taille moyenne, il a un lancer relativement moyen mais peut rendre service à la pointe du jeu de puissance.
