Lukáš Klok

Klok, Lukáš

Position : D

07-06-1995 Ostrava, CZE

Youth team / club formateur : HC Vítkovice

Defenseman with good on-ice awareness and mobility. Defensively sound. Efficient in the battles for the puck. He blocks a lot of shots.
Klok made his national team debut at the Sweden Hockey Games on February 9, 2017 against Sweden.
His first goal on the national team came on April 10, 2019 against Austria.
In 2021 he helped his Finnish hockey club Lukko Rauma win the SM-Liiga for the first time in 58 years.
Klok had a very bad experience in the USHL at 18 : nobody came to pick him up at the airport at 2 AM, then the coach mocked his English mistakes instead of helping him with the language. He found American people arrogant and ignorant about the rest of the world and avoided going there. He prefered playing in the KHL than in the NHL but when Russia declared war in Ukraine he eventually broke his contract and tried his luck in a NHL camp in Arizona (without success). He quickly came back to Europe... then in KHL in 2023.
Seeing teammates being forced to play through injuries has tempered his love for the Russian league, especially since his wife and first baby lived far from him. He eventually chosed to play in Switerland and Germany. Indeed he got a German passport through his family roots. His mother and grandmother both speak German fluently.
