American father and Canadian mother. Born in Los Angeles but moved to Calgary at age 10. Began playing hockey in Los Angeles at the age of three when LA reached the Stanley Cup finals.
Diminutive forward whose size hindered his NHL-career. Player relying on his speed and skating ability. Good anticipation. Competitive nature and willing to play any role on his teams.
Kozun was a top scorer in the juniors and earned the attention of both the Canadian and American national junior teams. He was guaranteed a spot on the American team at the 2010 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, but declined as he wanted to show loyalty to the nation that developed him as a hockey player. Moved to Europe in 2015 in order to play at a higher level there. Sometimes seen as the KHL fastest player.

Fils d'une Canadienne et d'un Américain, il voit le jour à Los Angeles mais déménage à Calgary âgé de 10 ans. Il avait commencé le hockey en Californie, à temps pour voir les Kings atteindre la finale de la Coupe Stanley en 1993.
Attaquant jugé trop petit pour la NHL, il a pourtant de la vitesse et du patinage à revendre. Toujours motivé, bonne lecture du jeu, il est prêt à endosser n'importe quel rôle avec enthousiasme.
Gros pointeur et buteur chez les jeunes, il avait attiré l'attention des programmes de formation canadien et américain. Les États-Unis l'auraient volontiers sélectionné pour les Mondiaux juniors 2010 mais il maintint sa préférence pour le Canada, pays où il devint le hockeyeur qu'il est. Parti en 2015 vers l'Europe pour jouer au plus haut niveau possible, considéré parfois comme le patineur le plus rapide de KHL.
