Uncle of Zvone Šuvak, the son of Miran Krmelj’s older sister. Miran Krmelj in turn was raised by his elder sister when growing up. His father was killed during WW II in 1942 and his mother died in 1954.
High scoring defenseman who scored 149 goals in 310 league games for Medveščak Zagreb. Represented Yugoslavia at the 1964 Olympics and 1971 Pool B World Championships. Also played for Yugoslavia B at the 1966 Pool C World Championships.
Worked for the city of Zagreb after his playing career. Founded a travel agency that specialized in transporting athletes to sports events.

Il est l'oncle d'un autre international yougoslave, Zvone Šuvak, le fils de sa propre grande soeur qui dut l'élever quand la fratrie se trouva orpheline de père (victime de la Seconde Guerre mondiale en 1942) et de mère (décédée en 1954).
Miran Krmelj devint un défenseur offensif pointeur, avec 149 buts en 310 matches de championnat pour le Medveščak. Prit part aux Jeux olympiques 1964 et au Mondial B 1971 ainsi qu'aux Mondiaux C 1966 quand on dut y inscrire une équipe de Yougoslavie bis pour faire le nombre.
Devenu employé municipal à Zagreb et gérant d'une agence de voyages destinée au transport d'athlètes de haut niveau participant à de grandes manifestations sportives.
