Technically excellent player with an uncanny on-ice vision as well as dangerous on one-on-one situations.
Never panicked and had a good presence of mind at all times.
His most frequent linemate was Vyacheslav Anisin whom he had played together with since the age of ten. The third linemate was usually Aleksandr Bodunov.
Nicknamed “Цыпленок” (Tsyplenok / Chicken)
Played 479 league games, scoring 427 points (198+229).
Represented Soviet Union 172 times, scoring 100 points (48+52). Retired in 1985.
He went on to work as a coach and president of the Krylya Sovetov team (Moscow).
Later became the sports director of the club.
