Younger brother of Antero Lehtonen. Played junior hockey in Canada for one year.
A smart and elegant player who could turn on a dime. Good penalty killer.
Won six Finnish league titles. Represented Finland 66 times, scoring 27 points (10+17).
He was a devout Christian. When he played for Berliner SC Preussen (1988/89) his season ended with an ankle injury in Schwenningen. Some local fans visited him in the hospital and put special gifts within flowers and chocolate: six Playboy erotic magazines. The evil joke froze the atmosphere.
Scored 816 points (325+491) in 713 career games. Retired in 1991.
Inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame.

Quand sa saison avec les Berliner SC Preussen (1988/89) s'acheva sur une blessure à la cheville sur la glace de Schwenningen, certains supporters du club local se joignent à la délégation de fans qui lui rendent visite à l'hôpital et glissent en "cadeau", parmi les fleurs et les chocolats, six exemplaires de la revue érotique Playboy, une blague salace qui glace l'atmosphère.
Ses statistiques se portent à 816 points (325+491) en 713 matchs dans sa carrière. Retraité en 1991.
Honoré parmi les Lions du hockey finlandais (Jääkiekkoleijonat, n°108).
