Grew up in Polje, a suburb of Ljubljana, as one of nine children.
Admired his two older hockey-playing brothers, Viktor and Franc, like Blaz Lomovšek.
First started to play for HK Slavija, who played in Vevče (Eastern part of Ljubljana).
There he was the backup for his brother Franc who had the greatest influence on his career.
Took a break from hockey in the mid 1970s and worked as a graphic artist.
Won several league titles. Helped Partizan Beograd win its first league title in 31 years in 1986.
The following season he had a club record of six shutouts.
Was selected to the Pool C World Championship All-Star team in 1985.
Played 420 league games and represented Yugoslavia/Slovenia 148 times (341 Goals against).
Retired in 1995. Coached his first club Slavija after his retirement.

Il admirait ses frères aînés Viktor et Franc qui jouaient au hockey, puis fut suivi par Blaz Lomovšek.
Il commença à jouer au HK Slavija, équipe de Vevče (quartier est de Ljubljana).
Il y était le gardien remplaçant de son frère Franc qui eut une grande influence sur sa carrière.
Il fit une coupure avec le hockey au milieu des années 1970 pour devenir graphiste.
Plusieurs fois champion. En 1986 il aida le Partizan Belgrade à remporter son premier titre depuis 31 ans.
La saison suivante, il battit un record du club avec six blanchissages.
Gardien de l'équipe-étoile des Mondiaux C de 1985.
Il joua 420 matchs de championnat et fut international yougoslave/slovène 148 fois (341 buts encaissés).
Retraité en 1995. Il entraîna le Slavija après sa retraite.
