Born in Markham, Ontario but grew up in Thornhill, Ontario.
Grew up rooting for Toronto Maple Leafs, but also Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks, mainly due to the fact that his two favourite players played there, Sidney Crosby and Patrick Kane.
Versatile forward and a natural point producer. Good skater and playmaker. Excellent asset on the power play. Ability to raise his level of play in big games.
Undersized for the professional ranks and only average in the game without the puck. Still, he's dominating takeaway stats in the NHL. Toronto Maple Leafs fans often criticized him for poor playoff results and he was traded to Utah in 2025.

Il soutenait les Maple Leafs de Toronto, mais aussi les Penguins de Pittsburgh et les Blackhawks de Chicago, essentiellement pour la présence de ses deux joueurs préférés, Sidney Crosby et Patrick Kane.
Attaquant polyvalent et prolifique. Bon patineur et créateur de jeu. Excellent atout en avantage numérique. Capable dehausser son niveau de jeu lors des grands matchs.
Petit pour le milieu professionnel (182 cm, 80 kg) et réputé moyen dans son jeu sans palet, il domine cependant les statistiques des interceptions dans la NHL. Mais les mauvaises prestations en play-offs lui valent des critiques répétées des fans impitoyables des Maple Leafs et il finit par être échangé au Utah Mammooth en 2025.
