Born in Oklahoma City since his dad served in the Air Force. Came back at 3 to Grand Blanc, the Michigan town where his parents met in high school.
Under 18 world champion 2009 and 2010. Suspended for harassing a group of girls with three other players at high school in the meantime.
Suspended 2 months for a team rule violation by his University of Michigan coach Red Berenson, which helped him to grow up.
Later on he would become a father of four daughters and an advocate for LGBTIQ rights with his wife Jessica.
Got a concussion when falling into the boards after five minutes in his very first NHL game with the New Jersey Devils in November 2013.
Injured in his second shift with Team USA at 2022 World Championships.
First Oklahoma-born player to attend a Stanley Cup final (2021 with the Montreal Canadiens).

La suspension de 2 mois infligée par son entraîneur d'université Red Berenson pour avoir enfreint une règle d'équipe l'a aussi aidé à grandir.
Devenu père de quatre filles, s'exprimant souvent pour les droits LGBTIQ avec sa femme Jessica.
Victime d'une commotion cérébrale après cinq minutes lors de son premier match de NHL avec les New Jersey Devils en novembre 2013.
Blessé tout seul dès sa seconde présence à son premier match de championnat du monde en 2022.
Premier hockeyeur né dans l'Oklahoma à avoir joué une finale de Coupe Stanley (en 2021 avec les Canadiens de Montréal).
