Nordlander grew up in Timrå at Järnvägsgatan, the same street where future national team players, Eje Lindström and Lill-Strimma Svedberg grew up.
Elegant skater with good leadership qualities. Strong player who didn’t mind taking the body. Captained AIK for many years.
Represented Sweden 195 times. Declined invitation in 1966. Also a good football keeper, sometimes used a goalkeeper in hockey on penalty shots.
In 1967 he was awarded the Guldpucken (Golden Puck) as the best Swedish player of the season. Six-time league All-Star.
His number five jersey is retired by AIK. Retired as a player in 1976, but made a two game comeback in 1978/79.
Worked as an electrician in the early years of his playing career. Nordlander also worked as an engineer for Electrolux.

Nordlander a grandi à Timrå sur Järnvägsgatan, la même rue où les futurs internationaux Eje Lindström et Lill-Strimma Svedberg ont grandi.
Patineur élégant aux bonnes qualités de meneur d'hommes, longtemps capitaine de l'AIK. Fort physiquement, il ne craignait pas de jouer l'homme.
195 sélections en équipe de Suède. Il a décliné l'invitation aux Mondiaux 1966. Bon gardien de but au football, il a parfois été aligné devant le filet au hockey pour des tirs de pénalité.
Guldpucken (palet d'or) de meilleur joueur suédois en 1967. Élu six-fois dans l'équipe-type du championnat.
Son maillot numéro 5 a été retiré par l'AIK. Retraité en 1976, il est revenu pour deux rencontres avec Hammarby en 1978/79.
Il travaillait comme électricien au début de sa carrière de joueur. Nordlander a aussi travaillé comme ingénieur chez le fabricant d'électroménager Electrolux.
