Debuted at 8 between the pipes. Willingness to learn and to work.
Left his hometown Fredrikstad at 16 and spent three junior years in Sweden with Färjestad while atteding high school.
Gained confidence in his talent in Sarpsborg, where he became number 1 goalie in his third year. After a strong season start he got called into national team and debuted vs Latvia in December 2022.
During a routine ECG test in August 2024 he was diagnosed with a Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (a heart rhythm disorder). He planned to gave surgery during the Summer of 2025 but changed his plans to become Norway's starting goaltender when Haukeland got appendicitis just before World Championships.

Il a débuté à 8 ans comme gardien et a toujours manifesté la volonté d'apprendre et de travailler.
Il a quitté sa ville natale Fredrikstad à 16 ans pour passer trois années de lycée en Suède et jouer en junior avec Färjestad.
Bac en poche, mais doutant un peu de ses moyens, il a repris confiance dans son talent à Sarpsborg, où il a été désigné gardien numéro 1 à sa troisième année. Un excellent début de saison lui a alors valu sa première sélection en équipe de Norvège, contre la Lettonie en décembre 2022.
Lors d'un électrocardiogramme de routine en août 2024 on lui diagnostique un trouble du rythme cardiaque : un syndrome Wolff-Parkinson-White, non détecté auparavant. Il convient avec son club suédois Frölunda de se faire opérer à l'été 2025, mais le forfait de dernière minute de Haukeland pour cause d'appendicite lui fait changer ses plans car il est propulsé gardien titulaire de la Norvège juste avant le championnat du monde.
