Son of Władysław Olczyk and Kazimiera Marszałek. He played both as a forward and defenseman.
Technically accomplished player. When patrolling the blueline he liked to make offensive rushes.
Good physical player who liked to throw his weight around, despite his small stature - 170 cm (5’6”) and 69 kg (152 lbs).
Between 1954 and 1963 he represented Legia Warszawa, winning the Polish championship seven times with them.
It is estimated that he played about 600 games in the Polish first and second leagues.
He represented Poland 83 times, scoring 5 goals.
Together with Kazimierz Chodakowski, he formed one of the best defense pairings in Polish hockey history.
For many years he was employed at the Wool Industry Plant Fresco as an electrician.
Olczyk did not leave hockey entirely after retiring as a player. He continued to coach local hockey teams in Zgierz.
He was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit, awarded to citizens who went beyond the call of duty in their work for the country and society as a whole.
Buried at the Piotra Skargi cementary in Zgierz.

Fils de Władysław Olczyk et Kazimiera Marszałek. Il pouvait jouer en défense ou en attaque.
Joueur techniquement accompli. En position de défenseur, il aimait rejoindre les rushs offensifs.
Joueur physique qui aimait peser de sa présence malgré un gabarit léger - 1m70 et 69 kg.
Entre 1954 et 1963 il a joué pour le Legia Varsovie et gagné sept championnats de Pologne.
On estime sa carrière à environ 600 matchs en première et deuxième division polonaise.
83 sélections en équipe de Pologne, de 5 buts.
Avec Kazimierz Chodakowski, il a formé l'une des meilleures paires défensives de l'histoire du hockey polonais.
Pendant des années il fut employé comme électricien dans l'entreprise du traitement de la laine Fresco.
Après sa carrière de joueur, Olczyk ne quitta pas tout de suite le hockey. Il entraîna des équipes locales à Zgierz.
Il a reçu la croix d'argent du mérite, remise aux citoyens qui ont fait preuve de devoirs dans leur travail pour le pays et la société dans son ensemble.
Enterré au cimetière Piotra Skargi de Zgierz.
