Orct, Zdeněk

Position : G

28-04-1970 Liberec, TCH

Youth team / club formateur : Bílí Tygři Liberec

One of the first goaltenders in the country who used the butterfly style. Excellent reflexes.
Before the 1998 Olympics in Nagano he was called in, instead of Roman Cechmanek.
Backup in several tournaments but had the misfortune to fight for a spot on the national team with many good goaltenders.
Played many years with the same type of cage mask that Dominik Hašek played with, and didn’t change to a more modern one until the early 2000s.
A knee bothered him in later years. Always tried to keep himself in good shape which is one of the main reasons that he had a long playing career.
Calm and collected goaltender. When he was older he served as a mentor to many young goaltenders.
Announced his retirement on May 1, 2014, at the age of 44. Went on to work as a goaltending coach for Litvínov.
