Born in Davos, but moved to St.Moritz with his family at the age of two. Started skating at the age of six.
As a kid he learned a lot under the tutelage of Canadian Bobby Bell who was in St.Moritz for a few years during the 1930s.
When St. Moritz couldn't ice a team in 1941 Bieler played with the Delnon brothers in Samedan, then whent to Zurich in 1942/43.
Formed a line with Heini Lohrer and Herbert Kessler in Zurich. Mainly a right wing but could also play as a center.
Represented Switzerland 53 times and scored 60 goals.
After his playing career he was a manager together with his old linemate Heini Lohrer for a company named Precisa AG.
Passed away after a long battle with an illness.

Né à Davos, mais est parti à St.Moritz avec sa famille à l'âge de deux ans. Il a commencé à patiner à six ans.
Enfant, il a appris beaucoup au contact du Canadien Bobby Bell qui est joué à Saint-Moritz quelques saisons dans les années 1930.
Quand Saint-Moritz ne peut plus aligner d'équipe en 1941, Bieler s'exile à Samedan, avant de partir jouer à Zürich.
À Zurich il était aligné avec Heini Lohrer et Herbert Kessler. Principalement ailier droit, il pouvait aussi jouer centre.
53 sélections en équipe de Suisse, 60 buts.
Après sa carrière de joueur il devint manager de l'entreprise d'outils de pesage Precisa AG, avec son ancien coéquipier de ligne Heini Lohrer.
Décédé après une longue bataille contre la maladie.
