Average-sized (183 cm) defensive forward.
His grandfather is from Esztergom, a town on the right bank of the Danube which was Hungary's capital during the Middle Age. Karol was born in Komárno, a town on the left bank of Danube (on the Slovakian side of the border) where the majority of people are from Hungarian descent. Yet he spoke mostly Slovakian at home.
Started playing on outdoor rinks and frozen ponds in Komárno before entering into organized hockey at 9 in Nové Zámky. At 12 he went to the Czech Republic and he also played two years in the MHL (Russian junior league) with short-lived Slovakian and Hungarian teams.
He played a few unofficial tournaments with Slovakian Under 17 and Under 18 national teams. In 2014 he joined Újpest, got an Hungarian passport thanks to his ancestry and was quickly called into Hungary's national team.

Son grand-père est originaire d'Esztergom, une ville sur la rive droite du Danube qui fut la capitale de la Hongrie au Moyen-Âge. Karol est né à Komárno, une ville sur la rive gauche du Danube (côté slovaque de la frontière) où la majorité de la population est d'origine hongroise. Il parlait néanmoins surtout slovaque à la maison.
Il a débuté sur des patinoires en plein air ou des étangs gelés à Komárno avant de commencer le hockey en club à 9 ans à Nové Zámky. À 12 ans il est parti poursuivre sa formation en Tchéquie et a aussi joué deux ans en MHL (la ligue junior russe) avec des clubs slovaque et hongrois qui n'ont pas fait long feu.
Il a joué des tournois internationaux non officiels avec les équipes de Slovaquie des moins de 17 ans et des moins de 18 ans. En 2014 il a rejoint Újpest et reçu un passeport hongrois du fait de son ascendance. Il a été rapidement appelé en équipe de Hongrie.
