Father of Guido Hiller. Inducted into the German Hockey Hall of Fame.
A small but bulky (173 cm / 88 kg) left winger who displayed a lot of physical strength.
He often did the shadow work on his line with center Joachim Ziesche (later Peter Prusa) and right winger Gerhard Klügel (soon Hartmut Nickel).
Retired in 1972 and became an ice hockey coach. He led Dynamo Berlin juniors to four consecutive titles and developed the new generation who took back East German supremacy (from only other top level club Weißwasser).

Petit gabarit râblé (173 cm, 88 kg) avec beaucoup de force physique.
C'est souvent lui qui faisait le travail de l'ombre sur sa ligne, avec le centre Joachim Ziesche (puis ultérieurement Peter Prusa) et avec l'ailier droit Gerhard Klügel (puis rapidemebt Hartmut Nickel).
Il devient entraîneur à sa retraite en 1972 et conduit les juniors du Dynamo Berlin à quatre titres consécutifs, préparant la relève qui reprendra la suprématie nationale (au seul concurrent Weißwasser).
