Born in Garsbichl (Emmering) outside of Munich. Calm and shrewd player. Very long career.
Electromechanical engineer. Former national team player Karl Wild hired him to work for a company named AGROB in Ismaning.
He played alongside his son Robert in EV Moosburg at 49 and in Bad Tölz in the second German division at 50.
In 1980 he joined TSV Erding (founded 1978) as a player coach. He became their youth hockey coach and trained their "golden generations" (born from 1985 to 1990) including Olympic medalist Felix Schütz.
At the age of 77 he was still playing recreational hockey with an oldtimers team called the ”Pink Panthers”.
He had a hip replacement operation and while recovering from it he got a heart attack. Buried in Rosenheim.

Il a joué avec son fils Robert à 49 ans à l’EV Moosburg, puis en deuxième Bundesliga à 50 ans avec Bad Tölz.
En 1980 il rejoint la jeune section hockey sur glace du TSV Erding (fondée en 1978) comme entraîneur-joueur, puis comme entraîneur des petites catégories. Il forme la "génération dorée" du club (née entre 1985 et 1990) dont fait partie le futur médaillé olympique Felix Schütz.
À 77 ans, il jouait encore au hockey loisir avec une équipe de vétérans nommée les "Pink Panthers".
Lors de sa convalescence après une opération de remplacement de la hanche, il eut une attaque cardiaque. Enterré à Rosenheim.
