Offensive-minded defenseman who loved to join the rush. Good skater and rarely made mistakes. Worked hard at all times and always looked for ways to improve his game.
He never got drafted in the NHL and paid his own way to the States, attending a tryout camp in Boston, where he signed with Chesapeake of the ECHL. He ended up playing 12 seasons in North America. Retired in 2006.

Défenseur offensif qui n'hésitait pas à rejoindre l'autre ligne bleue. Très bon patineur rarement pris en défaut. Travailleur dévoué, en quête permanente d'amélioration.
Un original : jamais drafté par la NHL, il a cependant misé toute sa carrière sur l'Amérique du nord et non, au contraire de la majorité de ses collègues lettons, sur les championnats russes ou européens. Après un essai à Boston, il est recruté par les Chesapeake Icebreakers en ECHL. Passera en tout douze saisons dans les ligues mineures américaines et finira son trajet de hockeyeur à Tulsa en 2006.
