Started out as a defenseman, before shifting to his forward position. Could play on either wing.
Was the property of New York Rangers but cancelled his contract with them.
He also quit the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen after the 1950/51 season.
His Mennonite upbringing conflicted with the hockey schedules (i.e. playing games on Sundays).
Had vast experience from the Canadian national team as he participated in two Olympic tournaments (1956 & 1960), as well as the 1962 World Championships.
He also toured Europe with the Chatham Maroons in 1961.
In 1961/62 he played semi-pro (officially amateur) hockey in Johnstown. After winning the World championship silver medal, he came back in the middle of the playoffs and became EHL champion. The next season he became the Jets' player-coach and was voted EHL all-star coach.
Scored more than 1000 points in his long playing career that spanned 22 years and more than 1000 games.
Retired in 1968 at almost 42.
Aside from coaching in hockey he worked as a car salesman of luxury cars.
Continued to play senior hockey and golf.

Il démarra en défense avant de passer en attaque. Il pouvait jouer sur les deux ailes.
Il était la propriété des Rangers de New York mais résilia son contrat avec eux.
Il quitta aussi les Dutchmen de Kitchener-Waterloo à l'issue de la saison 1950/51.
Sa confession mennonite était parfois en conflit avec le calendrier de hockey sur glace (comme le fait de jouer le dimanche).
Il participa à deux tournois olympiques (1956 & 1960), ainsi qu'aux Mondiaux de 1962.
Il fit également une tournée en Europe avec les Maroons de Chatham en 1961.
En 1961/62 il jouait en semi-pro (officiellement amateur) à Johnstown. Après s'être éclipsé pour devenir vice-champion du monde avec le Canada, il fit son retour au milieu des play-offs et devint champion EHL. La saison suivante il devint l'entraîneur-joueur des Jets et fut élu meilleur entraîneur de la ligue.
Il a inscrit plus de 1000 points dans une longue carrière de 22 ans et plus de 1000 parties.
Retraité en 1968 à près de 42 ans. En plus d'être entraîneur de hockey, il travailla comme vendeur de voitures de luxe.
Il continua à jouer au hockey en vétérans et au golf.
