Began playing hockey at an early age. He grew up in a residential area in East Palestine, Ohio and attended the East Palestine Ohio Elementary, Middle and High Schools.
Between the ages of 12 and 16 he played for Pittsburgh Hornets as the family was living in the Pittsburgh suburb of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania at the time.
Player with plenty of speed and offensive acumen. Versatility to play either wing position or center.
Strong along the boards, winning many battles. Battled inconsistency during his early years.
Under 18 World champion 2011 and Under 20 World champion 2013. Olympic champion 2026.
Ninth scorer in the 2023/24 NHL season (103 points) for the Canucks de Vancouver, who traded him to the New York Rangers a few months later (January 2025) because of an ongoing feud between him and the other top forward in the team Elias Pettersson.
