His trademark was an outstanding technique and finishing touch in front of the net.
Played many years on a line with Vlastimil Bubník and Bronislav Danda.
Scored 219 goals in 237 league games and more than 350 points. Top scorer in 1958 and 1961.
Had to end his career prematurely because of Hepatitis C in 1964.
Represented Czechoslovakia a total of 166 times, scoring 175 points (114+61).
Of these games, 93 were official (48+39) and 73 unofficial (66+22).
Launched a coaching career.
Inducted into the Czech Hockey Hall of Fame.

A joué de nombreuses années sur le même trio que Vlastimil Bubník et Bronislav Danda.
A marqué 219 buts en 237 matchs de championnat et plus de 350 points. Meilleur buteur en 1958 et 1961.
A dû mettre prématurément un terme à sa carrière en 1964 à cause d'une hépatite C.
A représenté la Tchécoslovaquie à 166 reprises, marquant 175 points (114+61).
Parmi ces matchs, 93 étaient officiels (48+39) et 73 non officiels (66+22).
A débuté ensuite une carrière d'entraîneur.
Intronisé au Temple de la renommée du hockey tchèque.
