Between the age of seven and nine he was a gymnast before switching to ice hockey in BEZ Bratislava.
Very good goalscorer with a quick release. Strong leadership qualities, and great winning mentality.
Talented stick handler, with excellent passing skills. Above average defensively. µ
Idolized by many Slovak hockey players later on.
Scored the game winning goal 2-1 goal in the crucial game against the Soviets in the WC 1985, helping Czechoslovakia winning the gold medal.
238 league games (123 goals).
Usually played on a line with Darius Rusnak and Igor Liba.
Represented Czechoslovakia 217 times, scoring 140 points (97+43).
Included in the stats are 22 unofficial games (18+3).
He also represented Slovakia 4 times.
Nicknamed "Ceco" since he was a junior. It was a variant of ”Cecko”, (The C), since he always used to be a captain.
Retired in 1993.
Became president of the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation and committed suicide (shot himself) one month after the 1998 Olympics.
Rumours said that he battled a longtime depression, and that it was the Olympic failure, or gambling debts that caused it.
Left individual suicide notes for his wife and each of this three children.

Entre sept et neuf ans, il pratiquait la gymnastique avant de se tourner vers le hockey sur glace au BEZ de Bratislava.
Très bon buteur, doté d'un tir rapide. Un fort leadership et mentalité de gagnant hors pair.
Une bonne maîtrise de la crosse et d'excellentes qualités de passe. Très bon défensivement.
Idolâtré par de nombreux joueurs de hockey slovaques par la suite.
Il a marqué le but de la victoire (2-1) lors du match crucial contre les Soviétiques à la Coupe du monde 1985, contribuant ainsi à la médaille d'or de la Tchécoslovaquie.
Il a disputé 238 matchs de championnat (123 buts).
Il jouait généralement sur la même ligne que Darius Rusnak et Igor Liba.
A représenté la Tchécoslovaquie à 217 reprises, inscrivant 140 points (97 buts et 43 passes).
Ses statistiques incluent 22 matchs non officiels (18+3).
Il a également représenté la Slovaquie à 4 reprises.

Devenu président de la Fédération slovaque de hockey sur glace, il s'est suicidé (par arme à feu) un mois après les Jeux olympiques de 1998.
Selon certaines rumeurs, il souffrait d'une dépression chronique, déclenchée par l'échec olympique ou des dettes de jeu.
Il a laissé des lettres d'adieu à sa femme et à chacun de ses trois enfants.
