He started playing football but saw his (female) cousin playing hockey in Grefrath and wanted to try this sport.
He had first to learn skating in Neuss. He prefered playing in the nets, like in football.
Collected goaltender with a calm playing style and exceent positioning. Good at reading the game and at communicating with teammates.
Quick feet and catching glove. Good picking glove. Strong outside the target area.
Tendency to go down too early and uncomfortable with a lot of traffic in front of the goal.
Olympic silver medalist 2018. He was called again four years later despite declining stats at club level but ended his international career after the tournament.

Il a commencé par jouer au football jusqu'au jour où il vit sa cousine jouer au hockey à Grefrath. Il se passionna pour ce sport.
Il dut d'abord apprendre le patinage dans la patinoire de Neuss. Il souhaita jouer gardien, comme déjà au football où il n'aimait guère courir.
Gardien au style de jeu très serein, aussi réputé pour son caractère calme dans la vie. Bon pour lire le jeu, il est parfaitement positionné et communique très bien avec ses coéquipiers.
Rapide des pieds et pour attraper le palet au gant. Fort à l’extérieur de la zone de tir.
Il a tendance à descendre trop tôt et est peu à l’aise avec le trafic en face du but.
Dans la vie, il aime sortir au restaurant, la mode et les carnevals.
Héros de la médaille d'argent olympique 2018, il a été rappelé quatre ans plus tard malgré des performances déclinantes en club mais a mis un terme à sa carrière internationale après le tournoi.
