Son of Gaston Furrer. An all-around defenseman with good aggressive play. Physical player and a good hitter. Solid skater with a good shot from the point. Defenseman seldom making any mistakes.
Drafted in the NHL by New York Rangers 2003 but only left his native town of Bern as a thirty-year-old to join Lugano. Took part to Switzerland's 2013 Cinderella story but missed the 2014 Winter Olympics due to a neck injury.
In 2017, still a pro player, he co-founded a men underwear company (TP Brother GmbH) with his brother Thomas.
Though he rarely found the net in his career, he scored a spectacular third overtime goal in his last play-offs with Fribourg.
When he retired in 2022 he cofounded HC Murten in his hometown and held one free training for children aged 5-12 every Sunday in the winter.

Fils de Gaston Furrer, ce défenseur polyvalent dispose d'un jeu aussi agressif et physique que son père, mais enquille moins de prisons. Bon patineur et tireur, il inflige de solides mises en échec et ne commet que très peu d'erreurs.
Drafté en 2003 par les New York Rangers, il ne quitte son club formateur de Berne qu'à 30 ans pour rejoindre Lugano. Participe à la formidable campagne mondiale 2013 de la Nati (finaliste) mais manque les Jeux olympiques 2014 pour une blessure à la nuque.
En 2017, toujours hockeyeur professionnel, il a co-fondé une entreprise de sous-vêtements pour homme (TP Brother GmbH) avec son frère Thomas, qui les dessine.
Bien qu'il n'ait jamais été un buteur, il a marqué en troisième prolongation après un fantastique slalom lors de ses derniers play-offs avec Fribourg-Gottéron.
À sa retraite en 2022, il co-fonde le "Hockey Club Murten" à Morat, ville lacustre de la frontière linguistique germano-francophone où habite de nombreux hockeyeurs de Fribourg. Sur une patinoire en plein air ouverte de novembre à février, il y propose une séance gratuite - avec équipement fourni - chaque dimanche matin pour que les enfants de 5 à 12 ans puissent découvrir et apprendre le hockey sur glace.
