Father of NHL’er Aleksandr Galchenyuk Jr. He supervised very closely his son's training.
Technically skilled player with a robust and straightforward style of play. Faced a serious knee injury in 1994 when playing in the AHL with Milwaukee.
World Junior champion 1986 With the Soviet Union. Three-time Soviet champion and two-time Italian champion.
Represented Soviet Union at the 1991 Canada Cup and later Belarus at the Olympics and World Championships.
Retired in 2007. Held summer training camps for hockey players, then became a coach.

Père du joueur NHL Aleksandr Galchenyuk Jr, il a supervisé de près l'entraînement et la formation de son fils.
Joueur techniquement talentueux, mais au style de jeu direct et robuste. Il a souffert d'une grave blessure au genou quand il jouait en AHL avec Milwaukee en 1994.
Champion du monde junior 1986 avec l'Union Soviétique. Trois fois champion d'URSS et deux fois champion d'Italie.
Il a représenté l’URSS à la coupe Canada de 1991 et plus tard la Biélorussie aux JO et aux Championnats du monde.
Retraité en 2007. Il a d'abord organisé des camps d'été pour la préparation des joueurs avant d'embrasser une carrière d'entraîneur.
