Younger brother of Ivo Jan. Grew up just under the football stadium grandstand in Jesenice. Played football in the summers and ice hockey in the winters. First played organized ice hockey as a 10-year old.
Began his playing career as a defenseman, but his rather diminutive size made him more suited as a forward and he was soon shifted to that position. He was known as a fast, tough and always dangerous forward for the opponents. Finished his career in defence.
Bogo Jan was great around the goal in the crease area. A very good team player. He concluded his national career in 1975 when he played his last match against Norway.
Both of his brothers, Ivo and Milan, also played league hockey in Yugoslavia. Scored the only Yugoslavian goal against Canada at the 1968 Olympics. Represented Yugoslavia 159 times, scoring 79 points (41+38). Was a plumber by trade. Went on to live in Smokuč.
Inducted into the Slovenian Hockey Hall of Fame.

Jeune frère d'Ivo Jan, il a grandi à l'ombre de la tribune principale du stade de football de Jesenice. Comme cela se faisait fréquemment à l'époque, il pratiquait le foot l'été et le hockey l'hiver, ce dernier sport à partir de ses dix ans.
Commence en défense mais sa petite taille le conduit plutôt vers les lignes offensives. Il redevient défenseur en fin de carrière.
Rapide, accrocheur, rude et menace constante pour les défenses adverses, Bogo Jan s'exprimait surtout dans le slot opposé. Joueur d'équipe par excellence, il achèvera sa carrière internationale en 1975 par un match contre la Norvège.
Ses deux frères, Milan et donc Ivo, ont eux aussi connu un parcours de hockeyeur. 159 sélections pour Bogo, 79 points (41+38) dont le seul but yougoslave contre le Canada lors des JO 1968. S'installa ensuite à Smokuč.
Introduit au Hall of Fame du hockey slovène.
