Twin brother of Evgeny Mayorov. Also a good football player.
Passionate, stubborn and determined player who was known to play hard along the boards.
His strong will and leadership skills made him a key player for a long time. Captained the Soviet National Team.
400 league games, 255 goals. Three-time All-Star in the league.
120 national team games, 60 goals. World Championship All-Star in 1961.
Played alongside his twin Evgeny and Vyacheslav Starshinov on the national team in the first few years, and was the offensive catalyst on that line.
Retired in 1970. Studied at the Moscow Aviation Institute of Technology before coaching hockey.
Coached Spartak Moscow and Jokerit Helsinki. Also worked as a TV-commentator.
Inducted into the Russian and IIHF Hockey Hall of Fame.

Joueur passionné, appliqué et déterminé, connu pour son jeu dur dans les bandes.
Sa grande volonté et ses qualités de leadership en ont fait le capitaine de l'Union Soviétique.
400 matchs de championnat, 255 buts. Trois fois dans l'équipe-type du championnat.
120 sélections avec l'URSS, 60 buts. Nommé dans l'équipe-type des Mondiaux 1961.
Il a débuté en sélection aux côtés de son jumeau Evgeny et de Vyacheslav Starshinov et était le catalyseur offensif de la ligne.
Retraité en 1970. Il a étudié à l'institut des technologies de l'aviation de Moscou avant de devenir entraîneur de hockey.
Il a entraîné le Spartak Moscou et les Jokerit Helsinki. Il fut également commentateur pour la télévision.
Intronisé aux temples de la renommée du hockey russe et de l'IIHF.
