Parrish was born in Edina, MN, and grew up in Bloomington, MN.
His first idol as a kid was the New York Islanders old sniper Mike Bossy.
After that he had Steve Yzerman as his favorite player.
Feisty player always willing to pay the price in front of the net to score goals.
Often pushed himself to the limit and played with a lot of intensity. Effective in the corners.
Had a long powerful stride with deceptive speed.
Moved well laterally and had good balance.
Smart player who was always aware of how the play developed around him.
Average defensively. Inconsistent both physically and in the scoring department.
Announced his retirement on November 11, 2012.
Parrish went on to work as a color analyst for St.Cloud state.
He then coached high school hockey.
After that he worked in broadcasting for New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild.

Par la suite, il a travaillé comme commentateur sportif pour les Islanders de New York et le Wild du Minnesota.
