Physically big winger (196 cm, 98 kg) whose strength was in front of the goal.
An average skater, but he is hard to stop when he drives to the net.
DEL player of the year and German champion in 2003 with Krefeld.
Then he tried his luck in the NHL with Minnesota but played only once in the first line and then on fourth line.
Second Austrian in the NHL (after goalie Reinhard Divis) and first one to score a goal.
In January 2004 he had a ligament injury during an AHL game in Houston. He couldn't skate straight afterwards and couldn't feel his leg like before. He could never be the player he previously was.
116 games with Austrian national team (34 goals). Twice Austrian champion with Klagenfurter AC (2000 and 2009).
A recurrent back injury hampered his later career, except briefly in 2007/08 after he spent the summer working with fitness guru Mark Verstegen.
Announced his retirement on April 1, 2012. Entered a three-year degree to become physioterapeut. Failed as he was missing ice hockey and became youth hockey coach.

Ailier au gros physique (196 cm et 98 kg) qu'il utilisait surtout devant le but adverse.
Patineur moyen, mais difficile à arrêter quand il fonce à la cage. Jeu très direct.
Joueur de l'année en DEL et champion d'Allemagne en 2003 avec Krefeld.
Il a ensuite tenté sa chance en NHL avec Minnesota mais n'a joué qu'un match en première ligne avant de figurer en quatrième ligne.
Deuxième Autrichien en NHL (après le gardien Reinhard Divis). 9 points (4+5) en 35 parties de NHL.
En janvier 2004 il s'est blessé aux ligaments dans un match d'AHL à Houston. Il n'a jamais pu re-patiner droit ensuite et n'avait plus de sensation dans la jambe. Il n'est jamais redevenu le joueur qu'il était.
Des problèmes récurrents au dos ont ensuite gêné sa fin de sa carrière, hormis une petite rémission en 2007/08 après un été passé à travailler avec le gourou du fitness Mark Verstegen.
116 sélections en équipe d'Autriche (34 buts). Deux fois champion d'Autriche avec Klagenfurt (2000 et 2009).
Il annonça sa retraite le 1er avril 2012 et intégra une formation de trois ans pour devenir kinésithérapeute.
Cette reconversion échoua car le hockey lui manquait, et il entraîna les jeunes équipes du KAC.
