His parents had emigrated to Canada from Barbados in 1961. Born in Ottawa and grew up in the nearby suburb of Briargreen, ON.
Watched his older brother Rod playing as a goaltender, so he naturally took after him.
Grew up admiring the diminutive goalie Darren Pang. Another one he looked up to was Grant Fuhr.
Able to compensate for his limited size (169 cm) with excellent positioning and strong reflexes.
Strong on his skates, relying on his athleticism.
Excellent puckhandler with a strong wristshot as a goaltender.
Tendency to wear down when played too often.
Well-liked by his teammates and a positive influence in the locker room. Always considered playing for Canada a great honour.
One of few goaltenders that managed to score two goals in his career. His first came in junior hockey when he scored for Detroit Jr. Red Wings in the OHL (Apr.20,1993) and the second game in pro hockey in the IHL for Manitoba Moose (Nov.6,1996).
Finished his playing career in Russia and Germany. Was voted the MVP in Germany 2009.
In 2011 he started a company called Sweet Seat (an iphone app that allowed you to order food and merchandise to your seat at sports and entertainment venues).
Then he became a goalie coach in his former club Mannheim, in Canada national junior teams and in the NHL.

Ses parents ont immigré au Canada depuis la Barbade en 1961.
Né à Ottawa et a grandi dans la banlieue voisine de Briargreen.
Il observa son frère aîné Rod jouer dans les cages et il s'est naturellement tourné vers ce poste.
Il a grandi avec pour idoles le petit gardien Darren Pang et le plus célèbre Grant Fuhr.
Capable de compenser sa petite taille (1m69) par un excellent positionnement et de bons solides.
Solide sur ses patins, il était athlétique avec une belle plasticité musculaire.
Excellent manieur de palet avec un lourd lancer du poignet pour un gardien.
Une tendance à décliner quand il jouait trop souvent.
Coéquipier apprécié à l'influence positive dans les vestiaires, il a toujours été honoré de jouer pour le Canada.
L'un des rares gardiens à avoir inscrit deux buts dans sa carrière. Le premier en junior hockey quand il marqua pour les juniors des Red Wings de Detroit en OHL (le 20 avril 1993) et le second en ligue professionnelle (IHL) pour le Manitoba Moose (le 6 novembre 1996).
Il termina sa carrière de joueur en Russie et en Allemagne. Désigné MVP en Allemagne en 2009.
En 2011 il créa une société nommée Sweet Seat, une application iphone pour commander et se faire livrer de la nourriture ou des marchandises directement à son siège lors des évènements sportifs ou des spectacles.
Devenu entraîneur des gardiens pour son ancien club Mannheim, pour les équipes nationales juniors du Canada puis en NHL.
254 parties de saison régulière de NHL avec 90,1% d'arrêts.
