Born and grew up in Milan where his father used to frequently visit the ice rink in Milan, Palazzo del Ghiaccio. The young Crotti began skating at the age of eight and began playing ice hockey three years later. It turned out that he was a natural talent and he quickly established himself. Crotti was a very smooth stickhandler and had the ability to criss-cross through any defense.
He had a few patented moves in his arsenal and was tricky to contain. His international debut on Amatori senior team at the age of 14 years and almost six months vs his future team Milano Inter. Crotti donned the Italian national team sweater on January 3, 1952 for the first time, aged 15, vs Switzerland B. Part of the feared "ABC line" together with Giampiero Branduardi and Giancarlo Agazzi.
Spent his entire career in Milan and was among the best Italian players for more than a decade.
He also was a member of Italian national team in rink hockey.
Later became the president of the technical ice hockey commission in Italy. Passed away in early 1990 at the age of 53.

Milanais pure sauce et très tôt familier, grâce à son père qui la fréquentait souvent, de la patinoire de la ville, le Palazzo del Ghiaccio. Le petit Tino Crotti patina dès ses huit ans et prit une crosse à onze. Son talent instinctif pour le hockey sauta aux yeux de tous. Naturellement à l'aise avec le palet qui l'emmenait dans des dribbles insaisissables.
Il disposait d'une palette variée de feintes et se révélait difficile à contrer. Crotti débuta en senior avec les Amatori de Milan à 14 ans et presque six mois, contre sa future équipe (Milano Inter). Le 3 janvier 1952, à 15 ans et six mois, il apparaissait sous le maillot de la sélection nationale italienne contre la Suisse B. Avec Giampiero Branduardi et Giancarlo Agazzi, Tino Crotti y formera une fameuse "ligne ABC".
Sans aucun doute un des meilleurs joueurs italiens de sa génération pendant une décennie, il n'a jamais quitté Milan.
Il a aussi mis des patins à roulettes et porté le maillot de l'équipe nationale d'Italie en rink hockey.
Président, après sa carrière de joueur, de la commission technique de la fédération italienne de hockey. Mourut à 53 ans.
