Son of a French father, who played handball, and Polish mother. Second of three brothers, the youngest being Stéphane Da Costa.
The family lived very close to Dammarie-les-Lys ice rink, that's why the brothers tried - and liked - ice hockey.
Technical and clever player with a hot temper.
Got involved in a fighting incident at 19 while playing inline-hockey with his older brother (Gabriel) in a team managed by his father.
Used his dual French/Polish citizenship to go to play in Polish league with Gabriel and escape the scandal.
Injured in training on first day of his first World Championships in 2010, he nevertheless became a regular on the French national team.
Played two seasons in Finnish Liiga. He decided to play one last season in Poland (2017/18) so that his Polish wife could give birth to their daughter in her native country.
Then he went back to France as his son would enter school.

Fils d'un père français, qui jouait au handball et d'une mère polonaise. Cadet d'une fratrie dont le benjamin est Teddy Da Costa.
La famille habitait à cent mètres de la patinoire de Dammarie-les-Lys, c'est pourquoi les frères ont essayé - et aimé - le hockey.
Joueur technique et créatif avec un fort caractère.
Impliqué dans un incident à 19 ans en jouant au roller-hockey avec son frère aîné (Gabriel) et son père qui dirigeait l'équipe de Dammarie.
A utilisé sa double nationalité franco-polonaise pour aller jouer dans le championnat de Pologne avec Gabriel et échapper à la polémique.
Blessé à l'entraînement le premier jour de ce qui aurait dû être son premier Mondial en 2010, il s'est néanmoins imposé comme un cadre de l'équipe nationale.
Il a joué deux saisons dans la Liiga finlandaise. Il a passé une dernière année en Pologne (2017/18) pour que sa femme polonaise puisse y accoucher de leur fille.
Il est ensuite rentré en France parce que son fils était en âge de rentrer à l'école (maternelle).
