Took up the sport of ice hockey at the age of five. His hockey hero growing up was Teemu Selänne.
Czech Under 17 champion in 1999 and 2000 with HC České Budějovice.
Defensive center with a good eye for the game. Better playmaker than finisher. Very good puck control and smooth skater.
Played seven seasons in North America, nine in the KHL and three in Switzerland (HC Ambrì-Piotta).
Represented the Czech Republic 152 times, scoring 50 points (24+26). World champion 2010.
