Son of Dieter Kalt Sr.. Followed in his father's footsteps.
Excellent skater who played with lot of intensity. Charismatic person who brought good atmosphere in a team.
His dedication was debated though when he quit Vienna despite one year left in his contract in order to sign with Salzburg in 2005.
German champion with Mannheim in 1997 and 1998. Swedish champion in his first season with Färjestad in 2002.
Five-time Austrian champion with Klagenfurt (1991 and 2000), Vienna (2005) and Salzburg (2007 and 2008).
Announced his retirement as a player on September 20, 2012. He went on to become an assistant coach, head coach and team manager for the Austrian national team on different levels (U-20 and seniors). Later become the director of hockey operations with Klagenfurter AC.

Fils de Dieter Kalt Sr. qui fut son sélectionneur en équipe d'Autriche. Dieter Junior a d'ailleurs suivi un parcours similaire, formé à Klagenfurt avant d'y percer et d'intégrer l'équipe nationale.
Excellent patineur qui jouait avec beaucoup d'engagement. Personnalité charismatique et positive qui contribuait à une bonne ambiance dans le vestiaire.
Son dévouement a toutefois été contesté quand il a quitté Vienne malgré une année de contrat restante pour signer à Salzbourg en 2005.
Champion d'Allemagne avec Mannheim en 1997 et 1998. Champion de Suède dès sa première saison avec Färjestad en 2002.
Cinq fois champion d'Autriche avec Klagenfurt (1991 and 2000), Vienne (2005) et Salzbourg (2007 and 2008).
Après avoir mis fin en septembre 2012 à une carrière longue de 22 ans, il intègre le staff des sélections nationales autrichiennes (entraîneur des U20 et adjoint chez les seniors) tout en occupant différents rôles de direction au sein du Klagenfurter AC.
