Younger brother of Carl Klingberg. A third brother, Olliver (born 1997), is also a good hockey player. Father Anders is a youth hockey coach. Born in Gothenburg but played his first hockey in nearby Lerum while growing up.
Offensive defenseman and very confident when carrying the puck. Big shot from the point and a valuable asset on the power play. Smooth skater with good natural instincts. A bit lanky in his younger years. Not particularly aggressive when defending his territory. Developed into one of the better defensemen in the NHL since landing there in 2014.
Champion de Suède 2013 avec Skellefteå. Won two consecutive world championship titles with Sweden in 2017 and 2018. Stanley Cup finalist in 2020 (with Dallas) and 2025 (with Edmonton). Retired in 2026.

Jeune frère de Carl Klingberg. Un troisième frère Klingberg, Olle, né en 1997, est également hockeyeur. Le papa Anders est formateur de jeunes, pas vraiment étonnant. John Klingberg lui-même, natif de Göteborg, a débuté comme son frère à Lerum.
Défenseur offensif au maniement du palet très sûr. Il joue de son puissant slap en avantage numérique. Bon patineur qui sent le vent d'un match. Manque de poids (80kg) et d'agressivité dans sa zone, ce qui ne l'empêche pas d'être un des meilleurs défenseurs NHL de sa génération.
Champion de Suède 2013 avec Skellefteå. Deux fois de suite champion du monde (2017, 2018) avec la Suède. Finaliste de la Coupe Stanley en 2020 (avec Dallas) et en 2025 (avec Edmonton).
443 points (92+351) en 700 parties de saison régulière de NHL. Retraité en 2026.
