Rooted for Kiekko-Reipas growing up and his favorite player was Janne Laukkanen.
He also liked Chris Chelios. Always had a good attitude towards the game, an eager learner.
Foremost a defensively sound blueliner who looked after his own zone at all times.
Not flashy but possessed some good puck-moving ability.
Was rarely caught out of position and was an excellent skater.
Rarely ventured away from his comfort zone, which affected his point production.
Was not as physical as he should have been. Injury prone during stretches of his career.
One of three players together with Jarkko Ruutu and Sami Salo to be a member of the "Four Silver Club", having lost the finals in the World Championships, World Cup, Stanley Cup and Olympics.
Announced his retirement on August 29, 2013.

Il appréciait aussi beaucoup Chris Chelios. Toujours une bonne attitude pendant les matchs, avide d'apprendre.
Son attention se portait en permanence sur la défensive. Pas du genre à prendre la lumière, mais il possédait de belles aptitudes dans le maniement du palet.
Rarement pris hors de position et excellent patineur.
Il s'aventurait rarement hors de sa zone de confort, ce qui affectait particulièrement sa production statistique.
Pas aussi physique qu'il aurait dû l'être. Sujet aux blessures durant sa carrière.
L'un des trois joueurs avec Jarkko Ruutu et Sami Salo à faire partie du club "quadruple argent" pour avoir perdu en finale des Mondiaux, de la Coupe du Monde, de la Coupe Stanley et des Jeux Olympiques.
242 points (36+206) en 847 parties de saison régulière dans la NHL. Il annonça sa retraite le 29 août 2013.
