Offensively gifted defenseman with a hard shot from the point. Useful on the powerplays. He learned to play hockey in his native Jesenice and was part of their team until 2009. With them he won three Slovenian league titles.
After that he tried his luck in various European leagues like Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Germany, Russia and Sweden, before returning back to Slovenia.
Not to be confused with Aleš Krajnc, another Slovenian international and brother of Gregor.
In 2023 his family revealed Aleš Kranjc (41) suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), an incurable neurodegenerative disease.

Défenseur offensif au lourd lancer, soutien précieux en supériorité numérique.
Débute le hockey à Jesenice et défend les couleurs du club local en championnats de Slovénie puis d'Autriche jusqu'en 2009. Trois fois champion de Slovénie.
Part ensuite faire un grand tour d'Europe avec des étapes en Autriche, Hongrie, République tchèque, Allemagne, Russie et Suède, avant de boucler la boucle en Slovénie.
Ne pas le confondre avec Aleš Krajnc, lui aussi international slovène et frère de Gregor.
En 2023, sa famille révèle que Kranjc (alors âgé de 41 ans) est atteint de la maladie de Charcot (sclérose latérale amyotrophique), une maladie neurodégénérative incurable.
