Late bloomer who began playing competitive ice hockey in high school under the guidance of coach Ivars Malins who was his biggest influence.
Stand-up goaltender with an excellent rebound control. Good size (191 cm, 97 kg) as well as burgeoning puck-stopping acumen. Confident in the crease area.
Married to a Latvian star singer. Poor dancer who is nervous in a crowd and feels safer behind a goaltender mask. He nevertheless wanted to celebrate wins with the audience and adopted a post-game ritual during his successful stint in MoDo (he helped Swedish legendary club to get promoted to elite level): he crashed the plexiglas.
Voted best goaltender in the DEL in 2023/24.

Gardien à l'éclosion tardive qui commence le hockey à l'adolescence avec l'entraîneur Ivars Malins qui aura une grande influence sur lui.
Gardien de style debout et de grandes dimensions (191 cm, 97 kg) avec un très bon contrôle des rebonds. Grande confiance en lui dans sa zone.
3 matches de NHL avec Tampa Bay, tous avec d'excellentes statistiques (1,36 but encaissé de moyenne et 95,9% d'arrêts). Il n'a jamais été plus que le troisième gardien dans la hiérarchie de la franchise et est donc rentré en Lettonie à 26 ans.
Marié à une star lettone de la chanson, il se dit pourtant piètre danseur et nerveux dans la foule. Il se sent protégé par son masque de gardien.
Désireux de célébrer tout de même les victoires avec les supporters, il adopte un rituel à partir de son passage à MoDo, qu'il fait remonter en SHL en 2023 : se jeter dans le plexiglas pour faire vibrer le public à l'unisson.
Meilleur gardien de DEL en 2023/24.
