Immensely skilled and patient player. Excellent on-ice-vision and stickhandler. Great backhand.
Outstanding defensive instincts and by many regarded as one of the best two-way players for several years. Known to make opponents look silly when stickhandling, using all the tricks.
One of the best players in the world at stripping players from behind with the stick lift.
Would have been even more effective against physical defenders if he had more bulk on his 180 cm (5-11) frame. Sneaky strong, surprising a lot of players.
Only real knock against him was his inconsistency in the goal-scoring department.
Named to the World Championship All-Star team in 2010 and was also named the best forward. Russian player of the year in 2011.

Un des meilleurs joueurs du monde pour ce qui est de voler des palets par-derrière en levant la crosse adverse.
Aurait même été encore plus efficace contre des défenseurs physiques s'il avait plus de muscle sur son gabarit de 180 cm. Sa force cachée a surpris beaucoup de joueurs.
La seule faiblesse qu'on peut lui trouver est son inconstance quand il s'agit de marquer des buts.
Meilleur attaquant et élu dans l'équipe-type des championnats du monde 2010. Joueur russe de l'année en 2011.
