His parents lived in Karlshorst, East Berlin. When he saw his father played a computer hockey game he wanted to try the sport for real and started at the age of six.
Under average sized defenseman (183 cm) but solidly built. Solid at reading plays and keeping cool under pressure.
Excellent positioning in the defensive zone. Physical in front on his own net.
Confident with the puck. Good first breakout pass and hockey IQ. Not the quickest skater around.
Had a breakthrough in 2018, when he won an Olympic silvermedal, had the best +/- in the German league, and was chosen as the best sportsman of Berlin.
He likes painting.

Ses parents habitaient Karlshorst à Berlin-Est. C'est en voyant son père jouer à un jeu vidéo de hockey qu'il a voulu essayer ce sport en vrai et a débuté à six ans en 2002.
Plutôt petit (1m83) mais solidement bâti (88 kg). Calme sous la pression et confiant avec le palet, il a une bonne relance et une grande intelligence de jeu.
Très bien positionné dans sa zone et physique devant sa cage, il n'est toutefois pas le plus rapide des patineurs et a un impact offensif limité.
Il a percé en 2018 : médaille d'argent olympique, meilleur ratio +/- du championnat allemand, élection comme sportif berlinois de l'année.
C'est aussi un peintre amateur.
