Small winger, his biggest asset being speed and quickness on his skates.
Aggressive and physical despite his size, a typical Arno del Curto player. Excellent quick release of his shot.
Humble character. He worked in his milk-producing parents' farm during summers until they retired.
Was signed as a free by New York Rangers in 2009 but played only in the AHL and only got ice time late in the season.
Six-time Swiss League champion (five times for Davos, once with Zürich).
Played in 17 elite World Championship tournaments and 123 WC games, both world records.

Ailier relativement petit, Ambühl fait résider ses principaux atouts dans ses vitesses d'exécution et de patinage.
Volontaire et âpre au gain malgré sa taille réduite, il est en cela un fidèle disciple d'Arno del Curto. Vif au lancer.
Modèle d'humilité. Il travaillait dans l'exploitation agricole de ses parents - producteurs de lait - dans la vallée de Sertig jusqu'à ses 16 ans, et retournait ensuite encore les aider l'été jusqu'à leur retraite.
Recruté comme agent libre par les New York Rangers en 2009, il fut réduit à passer une année entière dans leur équipe-ferme, longtemps confiné à la quatrième ligne.
Six fois champion de Suisse, cinq fois avec Davos et une avec Zurich.
Recordman du nombre de participations (16) et de matches (123) aux championnats du monde élite.
